Zadelhoff prefers to create its own real estate property. These can be both new construction developments and redevelopments. Examples of new building developments are the projects at the Zuidas; Noma house, Hourglass and the residential buildings Gershwin Brothers, developed together with the Maarsen Group.
Examples of redevelopments include the transformation of the former Volkskrant office into the Volkshotel on the Wibautstraat in cooperation with the operator, the renovation of the former Diamond Exchange on Weesperplein to Capital C and the transformation of the former Sotheby’s auction house at De Boelelaan 30 into offices and rehearsal space for Stage Entertainment.
Geurt Brinkgreve trophy
Together with our partner Nijkerk, we received the Geurt Brinkgreve trophy for the restoration of the dilapidated Burgerweeshuis of architect Aldo van Eijk on IJsbaanpad – a listed building – into the headquarters of BPD. For the transformation of the building of the former Diamond Exchange on Weesperplein into headquarters for the creative sector together with media entrepreneur Willem Sijthoff, we received the Mipim award for ‘Best Refurbished Building’.
Even now, our development team is working on a large number of projects in various stages. Under construction are the Orato office tower on H.J.E. Wenckebachweg and the realisation of 263 homes and co working space in the former ING head office “Zandkasteel” together with our partner Wonam.
We are working on the renovation of the main building of the former Slotervaart hospital for the Slotervaart Centre for Care, and with our partner Nijkerk we are realising a new building for the National Ballet Academy of the Amsterdam School of the Arts.
Family and student housing
Plans have been submitted for the construction of 400 student homes at Kronenburg in Amstelveen, 250 new rental homes at Bovenkerkerweg in Amstelveen, and 600 homes on the site of the former Slotervaart Hospital.
We are also working on housing on the site of the former Amsterdam Metallized Products factory on Paul van Vlissingenstraat, a mixed-use office building on Wenckebachweg and a business park on the A2 motorway near Breukelen.
Plot 7 in the Amstel Quarter
Through our own development company Zadelhoff Developments, we participate not only in developments for our own portfolio but also in developments for third parties.
Together with our partner Wonam, we recently started developing Plot 7, 280 affordable family homes in the Amstel Quarter.
